Hospital Worker Faints in Court After Learning He Could Face Up to 100 Years in Prison

A 42 year old hospital worker, Joshua James Lozano, reportedly fainted in a Phoenix courtroom on Monday after hearing that he could face up to 100 years in prison if convicted of alleged sexual exploitation of minors.

Lozano appeared in court following a Glendale Police investigation into allegations involving child sexual exploitation, according to reports.

Court documents stated that investigators were alerted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after allegedly explicit material was accessed through an internet service linked to Lozano.

Authorities reportedly traced an account, phone number and IP address to him before his arrest last Thursday.

During the hearing, Maricopa County prosecutor Ashley Stetson requested $150,000 bail and said Lozano could potentially face 10 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Each count carries a possible 10 year prison sentence, with the terms potentially running consecutively, resulting in a maximum of 100 years if convicted and sentenced accordingly.

Lozano reportedly collapsed after hearing the potential sentence, prompting the court to pause proceedings while medical personnel attended to him. The judge later set bail at $150,000, with restrictions including no contact with minors, no smartphone or internet access and electronic monitoring.

Lozano is expected to return to court on September 21. The allegations remain unproven unless established in court.
