Five Organisations, Individuals Receive NYSC Outstanding Corps Employers Awards in Anambra

Five organisations and individuals have been honoured by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State with the 2026 Outstanding Corps Employers Awards in recognition of their exceptional commitment to the welfare, mentorship and professional development of corps members.
The awards were presented during the 2026 NYSC Corps Employers Workshop held in Awka. The workshop, themed “Fine tuning Stakeholders’ Collaboration to Enhance Corps Members’ Welfare and Workplace Experience,” was jointly organised by the NYSC South East Area Office I, Enugu and the NYSC Anambra State Secretariat.
Among the recipients, Chairman of Marston De Rock Ltd, Martin Ezeorji, received the Most Supportive Partner Award, while HRM Igwe Sir Benneth Emeka (Oke Ebo II of Umueri), Chairman of Chiben Beverages Ltd, was honoured as the Most Outstanding Corps Employer. Others recognised with the Outstanding Corps Employer Award were Obinna Onuigbo, Proprietor of Premier Secondary School, Ogbunka; Pastor Mrs. Chidi Ebere, Proprietress of Olive Spring Secondary School, Onitsha; and Chief Evans Obi (Ichie Chinyelugo I N’Ichi), Chief Executive Officer of White Dove Agro Allied Company Limited, Ekwusigo.
Declaring the workshop open on behalf of the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Deputy Director of NYSC South East Area Office I, Mrs. Victoria Ike Nwosu, reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with corps employers. She urged employers to provide corps members with meaningful job assignments, mentorship, accommodation or accommodation allowance, transportation support, security and opportunities for career development. She also called for workplaces free from discrimination, exploitation, harassment and abuse.
Speaking at the event, the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, restated the Soludo administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and private sector growth. He described corps employers as indispensable partners in developing the nation’s workforce and encouraged them to expose corps members to practical experiences that would prepare them for future leadership and entrepreneurship.
Earlier, the NYSC Anambra State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, said the welfare and development of corps members require the collective efforts of NYSC and its partners. She stressed that employers play a strategic role in ensuring corps members are properly supervised, mentored and meaningfully engaged. She added that the workshop provided an opportunity to review existing partnerships, address operational challenges and develop practical strategies for improving corps members’ welfare and workplace experience.
The workshop concluded with interactive sessions focused on strengthening collaboration between NYSC and employers, enhancing corps members’ welfare and promoting greater workplace productivity across the state.
