ASHIA Takes Health Insurance Message to APGA Rally, Urges Leaders to Adopt Vulnerable Residents
The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, has taken its health insurance awareness campaign to an APGA campaign rally organised by the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, ASMATA, with a call for political leaders and philanthropists to help vulnerable residents access quality healthcare.
The rally, held on Saturday, August 22, at the Godwin Achebe Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha, attracted APGA candidates, market leaders, traders and supporters from across Anambra State.
Representing the Executive Secretary of ASHIA, Dr Augustine Ezeka, Izuchukwu Ogbaji used the gathering to explain the benefits of health insurance and encouraged individuals and families to enrol in the scheme as a way of securing affordable and sustainable healthcare.

Ogbaji also introduced the ASHIA Adoption Model, which allows philanthropists, organisations, political leaders and other well meaning individuals to sponsor health insurance coverage for people who cannot afford the required premium.
He urged participants to use the opportunity to adopt vulnerable persons in their communities, stressing that healthcare support can make a lasting difference in the lives of beneficiaries.
The President General of ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna, supported the initiative, urging APGA candidates and other stakeholders to embrace the adoption model as part of their community support programmes.
Anuna said providing people with sustainable healthcare coverage could be more beneficial in the long term than simply distributing food or cash, noting that a healthy person is better positioned to work, provide for the family and contribute to society.
The campaign therefore turned the political gathering into an opportunity to promote not just electoral participation, but also greater awareness of healthcare protection and social responsibility across Anambra.
