The Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Rome Ibekwe, has commissioned a solar powered borehole and modern toilet facilities at Afor Agulu as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the welfare of rural communities.

The projects are designed to provide traders and residents with access to clean water and improved sanitation, promoting better hygiene and healthier living within the market.

Speaking during the commissioning, Hon. Ibekwe said the projects fulfilled a long standing need that previous administrations could not achieve due to the difficult terrain and high cost.

He noted that his administration remained committed to ensuring that every community in Anaocha benefits from meaningful development and essential social amenities.

The Mayor also recalled that his administration cleared over 500 truckloads of waste from the market shortly after assuming office, describing the exercise as necessary to safeguard public health.

He urged market leaders to take ownership of the new facilities by protecting them from vandalism and preventing their misuse.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Security, Mr. Chinedu Ofojebe, commended Hon. Ibekwe for his commitment to grassroots development.

He noted that Anaocha has witnessed remarkable progress under his leadership.

Also speaking, the President General of Agulu People’s Union, Dr. Emmanuel Ibeneme, the Agulu Woman Leader, Mrs. Margaret Ejike, and the Chairman of Afor Agulu Market, Hon. Dozie Chikwelu, expressed gratitude to the Mayor for delivering impactful projects.

They described his administration as one that has transformed the local government through visible development initiatives.
