Anambra Joins Lagos, Kwara, Gombe for Global Fund Health Delivery Workshop

Anambra State has joined Lagos, Kwara and Gombe States at a two day Technical Assistance Workshop on the Alternative Delivery Model, ADM, supported by the Global Fund through the Society for Family Health, SFH, in Abuja.

The workshop brought together government agencies, implementing partners and civil society organisations to strengthen strategies for expanding private sector access to HIV prevention, Tuberculosis and Malaria services.

Anambra was represented by the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency, ANSACA, and the State Ministry of Health. The delegation included ANSACA Executive Director, Dr. Nkem Okeke, alongside senior health officials.

Speaking during the technical sessions, Dr. Okeke said Alternative Delivery Models could complement public health services and make essential healthcare more accessible to residents.

She noted that Anambra’s strong commercial base and vibrant private health sector, including pharmacies, laboratories and private healthcare providers, offer opportunities for sustainable public private health partnerships.

She said the approach could bring services closer to underserved populations, reduce pressure on public facilities and strengthen the long term sustainability of HIV, TB and malaria interventions.

The Anambra delegation also participated in discussions on implementation, commodity management, data reporting, quality assurance and sustainability.

ANSACA reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Ministry of Health, development partners and private sector to develop innovative approaches that improve healthcare access across the state.
