Anambra Govt Partners NCCSALW To Curb Illegal Firearms Acquisition

The Anambra State Government says it will partner with the South East Zonal Office of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, NCCSALW, to curb the illegal acquisition of firearms and strengthen security in the state.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo stated this when a delegation of the centre, led by its South East Zonal Director, Captain Chris Anushiem, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Awka.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the Governor said security remains a top priority of his administration, stressing that the government would continue to collaborate with security agencies to protect lives and property.

Soludo expressed optimism that the partnership would further improve security in the state and assured the centre of the government’s support to enable it carry out its responsibilities effectively.

Earlier, Captain Anushiem said the centre, established in July 2024, is responsible for the registration and control of small arms and light weapons in Nigeria, and called for stronger collaboration with the Anambra State Government to enhance security.
