By Oggorchukwu Oranu
The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has urged the management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, to intensify its revenue generation efforts through strategic partnerships and innovative programmes.
Udeze made the call when the ABS Managing Director, Mr. Chris Molokwu, led a delegation including the Onitsha Head of Station, Mrs. Ify Eze, and Head of Commercial Unit, Mr. Val Oguejiofor, on a courtesy visit.
The Speaker advised ABS to develop programmes capable of attracting sponsorship from traders, churches, institutions and other stakeholders, stressing the need for the state-owned media organisation to explore new opportunities that would strengthen its financial base.
He also charged the management to break new grounds and leave an enduring legacy in the establishment, assuring the ABS team of his support.
Responding, Molokwu said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between ABS and the State Assembly, particularly in giving wider publicity to the Assembly’s activities and achievements.
The ABS MD said the management had commenced an aggressive market drive and was already engaging stakeholders on partnership opportunities.
He explained that the station was developing programmes that could provide platforms for institutions and businesses to promote their activities while generating revenue for ABS.
