Ajalli Youth Organisation Sensitises Students on Dangers of Drug Abuse

The Ajalli Youth Organisation (AYO) has organised a one day sensitisation programme on the dangers of illicit drug abuse for students of Community Secondary School, Ajalli, in .

The awareness campaign was aimed at educating students on the harmful effects of illicit drug use, discouraging substance abuse and promoting healthy lifestyles among young people.

Addressing the students, the President of the organisation, Engr. Kingsley Ezeani, said the sensitisation was designed to enlighten them on the dangers associated with drug abuse and the need to resist negative peer pressure.

 

He urged the students to stay away from the possession and use of illicit drugs, remain committed to their studies and work towards achieving academic excellence to build brighter futures for themselves and make their families and community proud.

Speaking during the programme, the Director of Environmental Health for , Mrs. Nkoli Okeke, described drug abuse and related social vices as major threats to the lives and aspirations of young people. She highlighted the legal implications of illicit drug use and advised the students on practical ways to avoid substance abuse and other criminal activities.

On behalf of the students, the Senior Prefect, Miss Kanu, expressed appreciation to the Ajalli Youth Organisation for bringing the sensitisation programme to the school and equipping students with knowledge that would help them make responsible decisions.

The programme was attended by executive members of the Ajalli Youth Organisation, teachers and students of the school.
