Adamawa Man Remanded Over Alleged Theft of 22 Women’s Pants for Ritual

A 27 year old man, Muktar Shehu, has been remanded at a correctional facility in Yola, Adamawa State, over the alleged theft of 22 pieces of women’s pants for ritual purposes.

Shehu, a resident of Zango Ward in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court 3 on charges of house trespass, theft and criminal charm.

According to the First Information Report presented by the police prosecutor, Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, the defendant allegedly broke into the residence of Halima Yakubu on August 6, 2026, and stole 22 pants and other clothing items.

The prosecutor told the court that during interrogation, Shehu allegedly admitted taking the underwear for ritual purposes.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the allegations, while the prosecutor requested that a witness be called to corroborate the plea.

Chief Magistrate Uwani Danladi subsequently ordered that Shehu be remanded at a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
