NFF Sacks Super Falcons Technical Crew After World Cup Qualification Setback

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has directed the entire technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down with immediate effect following the team’s failure to secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The NFF Executive Committee announced the decision on Monday without giving specific reasons, ending the tenure of a technical team led by Head Coach Justin Madugu after a disappointing 2026 campaign.

Nigeria’s hopes suffered a major setback at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Falcons were eliminated by Cameroon in the quarter-finals. The result denied Nigeria an automatic World Cup ticket and forced the team into a playoff against South Africa, which the Falcons also lost.

The development adds to Nigeria’s recent football disappointment, coming after the Super Eagles also failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With both senior national teams missing the global tournaments, pressure is now mounting on the NFF to rebuild the country’s football structure and restore Nigeria’s place on the international stage.
