Anambra Basic Schools Begin Shift To Digital Records As ASUBEB Distributes Free Statutory Materials

The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, has commenced the distribution of free statutory administrative and academic records to basic schools across the state as part of efforts to strengthen school administration and advance the state’s free basic education policy.

Flagging off the exercise at the ASUBEB headquarters in Awka, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, said the initiative was designed to remove administrative costs from schools and provide headteachers with essential materials, including registers, diaries and folders, at no cost.

Anyadiegwu also announced that Anambra basic schools will begin a systematic transition from manual to fully digital record keeping from the next academic session. She said headteachers, officers in charge and education officials had already undergone training on the use of digital registers and other administrative tools ahead of the transition.

She explained that the digitalisation programme would improve documentation, school management and accountability, while reducing administrative burdens. However, she stressed that successful implementation would require continuous training and support for schools.

Stakeholders, including education directors, headteachers and education secretaries, commended the Soludo administration for its education policies and urged schools to use and maintain the records responsibly. The exercise was described as another step towards building a more efficient, modern and technology driven basic education system in Anambra.
