NSCDC Urges Anambra Youths to Stop Vandalism, Protect Critical Infrastructure

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has urged youths and residents to take an active role in protecting critical government infrastructure and reporting acts of vandalism in their communities.

The State Commandant, Commandant Maku Olatunde, gave the charge at the maiden Amanuke Youth Summit in Awka North Local Government Area, where he identified vandalism, theft, illegal mining and other acts of sabotage as threats to security, economic growth and public welfare.

Maku, represented by the Command’s spokesman, Superintendent of Corps Okadigbo Edwin, said facilities including roads, electricity infrastructure, telecom towers, water facilities, schools, hospitals, government buildings and other public assets were vital to the wellbeing of citizens.

He called for increased vigilance, intelligence sharing and community based surveillance, urging residents to promptly report suspicious activities around critical infrastructure to the NSCDC.

The Commandant also appealed to youths to resist manipulation for political or criminal purposes, stressing that protecting public infrastructure was ultimately about protecting their own future.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working with traditional rulers, youth organisations and other community stakeholders to prevent vandalism, violent crime and other security threats across Anambra State.
