The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Anambra State Chapter, has organised a health awareness and fitness exercise aimed at encouraging residents to adopt healthier lifestyles through regular physical activity.
The event, tagged “NIPR Walk for Life” and themed “Walk for Your Health and Community: A Bold Step into Wellness and a Step Out for Impact,” attracted public relations practitioners, health enthusiasts, members of the institute, and residents from across the state.

The exercise commenced at the Awka City Stadium with a road walk through major streets of the capital city before ending at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, where participants engaged in aerobic exercises and fitness sessions.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of NIPR Anambra State Chapter, Dr. Ngozi Ulogu, said the initiative reflects the institute’s commitment to promoting healthy living alongside professional excellence.

She urged residents to make regular exercise part of their daily routine, noting that physical activity improves cardiovascular health, strengthens the immune system, reduces stress, and lowers the risk of chronic diseases.
Also speaking, the State Welfare Officer of the institute, CSP Josephine Ihunwo, stressed the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles through regular exercise and routine medical check-ups.

According to her, preventive healthcare remains the most effective way to reduce the burden of disease, as early detection of health challenges improves treatment outcomes and saves lives.
The fitness instructor, Mr. Sunday Okafor, encouraged participants to remain consistent with physical activities, explaining that simple exercises such as walking, jogging, stretching, and recreational sports are effective ways to improve body fitness, flexibility, endurance, and mental well-being.
He noted that maintaining good health does not necessarily require expensive gym facilities but a commitment to regular physical activity.
The event featured a road walk along the Enugu Onitsha Expressway, health talks, aerobic workouts, networking, and recreational activities, all geared towards promoting wellness and encouraging healthier communities across Anambra State.
