Enugu Gov. Mbah Approves Recruitment of Over 6,500 Teachers, Support Staff
The Enugu State Government has approved the recruitment of more than 6,500 teachers and support staff for public primary and secondary schools across the state as part of efforts to strengthen the education sector and improve learning outcomes.
The approval, granted by Governor Peter Mbah, will see the majority of the new appointments deployed to the state’s 267 Smart Green Schools, a flagship initiative aimed at transforming basic education.
In a statement, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Professor Hyginus Okibe Banko, said applicants for teaching positions must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or a Bachelor’s Degree or HND with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), or a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE). He added that candidates must also be registered with, or provide evidence of registration with, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
The board further announced vacancies for non teaching positions for holders of OND and SSCE/WASSCE qualifications. Applicants for Degree and HND positions are required to possess a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate and demonstrate proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Interested applicants are expected to submit an application letter, curriculum vitae, academic and professional certificates, birth certificate or age declaration, and valid contact details. Applications may be submitted physically at the Office of the ENSUBEB Chairman in Enugu or electronically as a single PDF document to ensubebofficial@outlook.com.
The Enugu State Government stated that applications will close on Friday, August 14, 2026, urging qualified candidates to apply before the deadline.
