Anambra Budget Commissioner, Okoye Explains States Perfect Open Governance Ranking
Awka, Anambra State — The Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Chukwukadibia Okoye, has commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for what he described as the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and citizen participation in governance.
The commendation followed Anambra State’s latest 100 per cent rating in the Open Government Partnership, OGP, Nigeria Sub-national Status ranking, placing the state among Nigeria’s leading sub-national governments in open and accountable governance.
Speaking with journalists in Awka, Commissioner Okoye said the rating was a strong reflection of the institutional structures and collaborative mechanisms established by the Soludo administration to promote transparency, accountability and inclusive governance.
According to him, the achievement goes beyond a ranking, as it demonstrates the state government’s commitment to ensuring that citizens have greater confidence in the management of public resources and the decision making processes of government.
The Commissioner noted that Anambra’s performance would further strengthen the state’s credibility among development partners and enhance its ability to attract partnerships and opportunities capable of supporting sustainable development.
He assured that the state government would continue to build on the gains recorded by deepening fiscal transparency, encouraging citizens’ participation and strengthening accountability in the use of public resources.
Mr. Okoye further disclosed that efforts would be made to extend the principles of open governance to the Local Government Areas, ensuring that transparency and accountability remain a shared responsibility across all levels of government.
