NANS Raises Concern Over Delay in Payment of Federal Government Scholarships

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed concern over the prolonged delay in the payment of scholarships awarded through the Federal Scholarship Board, saying many beneficiaries are yet to receive funds approved since 2024.

In a statement, the President of NANS, Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, said the association has received numerous complaints from students across the country who were awarded the scholarships but have not been paid.

According to him, the growing number of complaints has become a matter of serious concern, prompting the association to initiate discussions with the Federal Scholarship Board to determine the cause of the delay and seek a lasting solution.

Akinteye assured affected students that NANS would engage the relevant authorities to establish why the payments have not been made and to ensure that beneficiaries receive their entitlements without further delay.

He appealed to students to remain calm and patient while the association pursues the matter with the appropriate government agencies.

The NANS President reiterated that the welfare and rights of Nigerian students remain a top priority for the association, adding that it would continue to demand accountability and transparency from relevant institutions responsible for administering student support programmes.
