UNIZIK Debunks Viral Sex Scandal Report, Clears Staff and Students

8The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has dismissed reports linking one of its staff members to a viral video alleging inappropriate conduct with a student, describing the claims as false, misleading and entirely unfounded.

In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Comrade Aloysius Emeka Attah, the university clarified that the individual featured in the widely circulated video is neither a staff member of the institution nor did the alleged incident occur anywhere within the university.

According to the statement, the university conducted a thorough verification after the video and related online reports surfaced and established that no staff or student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University is connected in any way with the incident.

The management therefore urged the public to disregard reports attempting to associate the institution with the viral video.

The university reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and ethical conduct among its staff and students. It also restated its zero tolerance policy against every form of exploitation of students and emphasized that it will continue to maintain a safe and conducive academic environment.

Expressing concern over the growing spread of misinformation and disinformation on social media and online platforms, the management warned that publishing unverified reports damages the reputation of institutions and individuals.

It called on media organisations, digital platforms and members of the public to verify information before publication, retract misleading reports where necessary and continue to engage the university through its open door communication policy for accurate and credible information.
