Anambra Government Extends Rider’s Permit Enforcement Deadline to September 30
The Anambra State Government has extended the deadline for the enforcement of mandatory Rider’s Permit for all motorcycle and tricycle operators in the state to September 30, 2026.
The extension was announced in a Public Service Announcement signed by the Commissioner for Transport Hon. Edward Ibuzo, following engagements with stakeholders and consideration of appeals for more time to comply with the Rider’s Permit issuance and regulatory requirements.
The announcement advised all motorcycle and tricycle riders in Anambra to use the extension period to obtain their Rider’s Permits before the commencement of enforcement.
According to the announcement, permits can be obtained at the VIO Computerized Inspection Centre beside ROBAN Stores, Awka; the Vehicle Inspection Services Office at Block C, Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka; the Vehicle Inspection Services Office at Stock Exchange, GRA, Onitsha; and the Vehicle Inspection Services Office at Onitsha South Local Government Secretariat.
Other designated centres include the Vehicle Inspection Services Office at Nnewi North Local Government Secretariat, Nnewi, and the Vehicle Inspection Service Office at Aguata Local Government Secretariat.
The Ministry also said riders could apply for the permit online through its designated portal.
It warned that the extension would be followed by an enforcement drive by officers of the Vehicle Inspection Services and the Compliance and Enforcement Team, effective October 2, 2026.
The announcement urged all affected riders to take advantage of the extension and regularise their operations before enforcement begins.
