Police Arrest 10 Suspects Over Killing of Benue MACBAN Chairman

The Benue State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the state, Ardo Risku Mohammed, and his associate, Yakubu Isah.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday, stating that the arrests followed significant progress in the investigation. She said the operation was carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, after intensive intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations.

 

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended during a security operation conducted in the Otukpo area on the night of June 27, 2026. Those arrested were identified as Titus Tyodenda, 25; Utibe Sam, 20; Owoicho Ameh, 18; Sunday Useni, 21; Sunday Ogbanje, 46; Daniel Raphael, 23; Adokole John, 24; Samuel Ogazi, 32; Agbo Daniel, 25; and Onazi James, 30.

 

Commissioner of Police Nwadiogbu commended the command’s tactical teams and investigators for their swift response and professionalism. He assured residents that investigations were ongoing and that efforts had been intensified to identify and arrest other persons linked to the killings.

 

The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring that all those found culpable are prosecuted in accordance with the law. He also appealed to members of the public to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and provide credible information that could assist the ongoing investigation, while reiterating the command’s resolve to protect lives and property across Benue State.
