By Chibuzo Obidike

LAGOS — The Lagos State Police Command has detained a Chinese national, Bai Quang, following allegations of sexual assault and repeated unwanted advances towards his Nigerian employee, identified as Charles Nwafor.

The suspect was reportedly arrested after Nwafor petitioned the police, alleging that his employer repeatedly made unwanted sexual advances towards him and assaulted him after he rejected them.

According to a police source, Quang allegedly pulled down Nwafor’s trousers and touched his private parts, while another alleged attempt occurred after the suspect invited him to a hotel under the pretext of discussing business.

The alleged hotel incident reportedly failed, after which Nwafor petitioned the police. He also alleged that Quang threatened him and terminated his employment after he rejected the advances.

Following the petition, the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba, for further investigation.

The case is being handled by the SCID’s Diplomatic/Foreign Nationals Section, with the Chinese Embassy reportedly being notified in line with established procedures.

Police said the suspect remains in custody while investigators work to establish the facts and determine the appropriate legal action.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
