20-Year Old Arrested for Allegedly Killing Father in Abatete

A 20 year old man, identified as Pascal Ogbogu, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 56 year old father with a machete in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The incident reportedly occurred on the evening of August 25, 2026. Following a distress call, Police operatives from Eziowelle Division, alongside family members and Abatete Vigilante personnel, mobilised to the scene and found the deceased in a pool of blood with a deep machete wound to the throat.
The suspect allegedly fled after the incident but was tracked and arrested in the early hours of August 26 following coordinated efforts by the Police, vigilante personnel and community members.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the community for providing timely information and supporting the arrest, stressing that effective community participation remains crucial to fighting crime.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The Police assured the family that the circumstances surrounding the death would be thoroughly investigated and that the suspect would face due process in accordance with the law.
