Ukpo Residents Embrace HIV Testing as ANSACA Takes Awareness to the Grassroots

By Obianuju Isima

Residents of Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State have embraced HIV awareness, testing and counselling as the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), in partnership with the Walter & Chioma Obi Foundation, brought essential health services closer to the community.

The outreach, held on August 22 at the palace of Igwe R.C. Eze, Dunukofia VI, provided residents with HIV testing, counselling and basic healthcare services, while educating them on prevention and available treatment options.

The exercise is part of ANSACA’s grassroots strategy to make HIV services more accessible to communities and encourage residents to know their status.

ANSACA commended Mr. Walter Chinedu Obi and his wife, Mrs. Chioma Obi, for supporting healthcare and community development initiatives, while also appreciating the Anambra State Government for creating an enabling environment for health partnerships.

The agency urged residents to get tested regularly, rely on accurate health information and help eliminate HIV related stigma.
