Operation Hadin Kai Arrests Suspected Sudanese Terrorist, Ghanaian Illegal Immigrant in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected foreign terrorist fighter and an alleged illegal immigrant during a security operation in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the North East.

The operation was carried out by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, Sector 4 Operation Hadin Kai, at about 11:48 a.m. on July 19, 2026, in Lassa, Dille General Area, following intelligence driven operations targeting terrorist activities in the region.

According to the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, troops arrested Musa Fashir, a 32 year old Sudanese national suspected to be a foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator. Preliminary intelligence indicates that the suspect has links with terrorist elements, raising fresh concerns over the involvement of foreign actors in supporting insurgency within the North East.

During the same operation, troops also apprehended Mary Florence, a 36 year old woman who claimed to be an illegal immigrant from the Republic of Ghana. Military authorities said the circumstances surrounding her presence in the area, as well as the authenticity of her claims, are currently under investigation.

The two suspects are currently in military custody, where they are undergoing profiling and interrogation to establish their identities, determine the extent of their activities and ascertain any possible connections to terrorist organisations or transnational criminal networks.

Military authorities said the arrests underscore the effectiveness of intelligence driven operations by Operation Hadin Kai and the vigilance of troops in denying terrorists and their collaborators freedom of movement across the theatre of operations.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to neutralising terrorist threats, dismantling their logistics, financing and support networks, while preventing the infiltration of foreign fighters into Nigeria.

Operation Hadin Kai also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that collective vigilance remains vital to restoring lasting peace, security and stability in the North East.
