Ekpone said Nwabueze was selected in recognition of his achievements in business, construction and the international oil and gas sector.

The award is part of a broader recognition programme designed by the Union to honour individuals who have made significant contributions to public service, philanthropy, humanitarian activities, community development and professional excellence.

The awards will form part of the activities marking the 35th anniversary of the NUJ Anambra State Council, providing the Union an opportunity to recognise individuals whose contributions have positively impacted society.

The 2026 Press Week, themed “NUJ Anambra, 35 Years On: Reporting with Truth, Responsibility and Service,” is expected to culminate in a grand finale on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

The celebration will also feature the presentation of other professional and ethical journalism recognitions as the Union reflects on its 35 year journey and its contribution to journalism and society in Anambra State.
