NSCDC Anambra Warns VIP Duty Operatives Against Violating Service Orders
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Anambra State Command, has warned personnel attached to VIP duties to strictly comply with service orders, rules of engagement and standard operating procedures while carrying out their responsibilities.
The State Commandant, Commandant Maku Olatunde, gave the warning on Monday, September 7, 2026, during a one day refresher course for leaders of the various beats at the Command Headquarters in Awka.

Olatunde stressed the need for professionalism, civility and respect for human rights, noting that close protection duties require vigilance, sound judgement and a high level of operational competence.
He said personnel must remain well trained, adaptable and capable of responding effectively to changing security situations.
The Commandant listed threat assessment, protective formations, route planning, convoy drills, surveillance detection, defensive tactics and emergency response procedures among key areas requiring continuous training.

He also reminded personnel of their oath of secrecy and urged them to remain security conscious while on duty, warning them against engaging in illegal assignments or activities that could endanger their lives or those of their principals.
Olatunde warned that personnel found violating the Corps’ code of conduct or operational guidelines would face appropriate disciplinary action.
Earlier, the Deputy State Commandant, DCC Prominence Ukaobi, said the knowledge and skills acquired during the training would improve the competence of personnel and strengthen the operational effectiveness of their respective beats.
The Officer in Charge of the Beat and VIP Unit, Superintendent of Corps Toochukwu Umeohana, described the refresher course as an important step in expanding specialised paramilitary training within the Command.
He urged the operatives to maximise the training, stressing that the evolving security environment requires personnel who are properly trained, adaptable and capable of providing effective protection under varying operational conditions.
