Nollywood Ace Actor, Olu Jacobs Is Dead
Olu Jacobs, the ace Nigerian actor, has passed away at the age of 84.
His death was announced in the early hours of Wednesday by his family.
Olusoji Jacobs, the actor’s son, took to his Instagram page to appreciate “God for a life well lived and fought” while urging the media to respect the family’s privacy.
“It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought, that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo,” he wrote.
“We call on all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our families privacy at this time.”
Jacobs was born on July 11, 1942.
He was a veteran actor who has starred in Nigerian, British, and international film/TV projects since the 1970s.
He won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2021 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF).
He was also presented with an Icon Award by the Audio-Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS) in 2022.
At the 2023 AMVCA, Jacobs was honoured with the prestigious Industry Merit Award for outstanding achievements in acting.
The ace actor married Joke Silva in 1989, and they have two children.
