The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 34 year old South African woman, Qhina Beauty, with 36.65kg of cocaine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, alongside a 62 year old Nigerian American grandmother allegedly found with 9.45kg of cannabis known as “loud.”

According to the agency, Qhina was arrested on October 7 while preparing to board a flight to South Africa through Doha. The cocaine was reportedly concealed in her travel bags. Further investigations allegedly led to the arrest of a 46 year old Lagos car dealer, Uchenna Victor Umunnakwe, over his suspected connection to the shipment.

In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives arrested Anetor Gloria Ubong, 62, after she arrived in Lagos from Houston, United States, on October 21. A search of her checked in luggage reportedly uncovered 9.45kg of cannabis.

In Delta State, operatives arrested Helen Bakporo Samson, 46, a physically challenged woman, at Enhere Junction in Warri, with 6kg of skunk, another form of cannabis.

The agency also reported arrests and seizures involving illicit drugs in Lagos, Delta, Kano, Bauchi, Niger, Edo, Ondo, Taraba and Oyo states as part of coordinated operations targeting drug trafficking and substance abuse.

The arrests underscore the agency’s continuing efforts to disrupt illicit drug supply networks across the country. The allegations against the suspects remain subject to investigation and judicial determination.
