Manchester United Agree £50m Deal for Chelsea Midfielder Andrey Santos – Reports

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement worth up to £50 million to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos, according to several British media outlets. However, neither club has officially confirmed the transfer.

Sky Sports reported that United have agreed a £50 million deal for the Brazilian midfielder and that only the remaining formalities are left before the move is completed.

The Guardian also reported that the Red Devils have completed a deal worth £48 million, following Chelsea’s valuation of the player, after intensifying their pursuit of the 22 year old.

According to The Athletic, as cited by TNT Sports, the agreement is valued at £48 million plus £2 million in performance related add ons. Personal terms have reportedly been agreed, with Santos granted permission to undergo a medical.

The Times added that Chelsea negotiated a 10 per cent sell on clause as part of the transfer agreement, while talkSPORT reported that Santos is expected to sign a five year contract at Old Trafford.

Despite the widespread reports, both Chelsea and Manchester United are yet to make any official announcement regarding the transfer.

Santos joined Chelsea from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in 2023. He later had loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg, where he impressed before returning to Stamford Bridge.

Last season, although he was not a regular starter ahead of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, Santos made 43 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, scoring three goals.

If the move is completed after his medical and the remaining paperwork, the Brazilian midfielder is expected to strengthen Manchester United’s midfield ahead of the new season.
