Man In Police Net After Allegedly Pushing Lover’s Sister Off Two-Storey Building

A 17-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after she was allegedly pushed from a two-storey building in Owerri, Imo State, by her sister’s boyfriend.

The Imo State Police Command has arrested the 26-year-old suspect, identified as Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph, over the incident, which reportedly followed an altercation between him and the teenager.

Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, said the incident occurred around 1 p.m. on November 1 along Mbonu Ejike Street, Ikeneagbu, Owerri. The victim, identified as Chiamaka Chukwuokore, sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition.

An angry crowd reportedly attempted to lynch the suspect after the incident, but police operatives intervened and rescued him.

The suspect is in police custody as investigations continue. Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso has assured the public that the matter will be thoroughly investigated.

The police have appealed for calm, warning residents against mob action and the circulation of unverified reports.

The teenager’s recovery and a thorough investigation remain paramount.
