Lagos Begins Installation of New Water Pumps to Boost Supply

The Lagos State Government has commenced the installation of new water pumps at the Iju Headworks and Akute Intakes as part of ongoing efforts to increase water production and improve access to potable water across the state.

The government said the project is aimed at enhancing water abstraction, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening the capacity of the Lagos Water Corporation to provide a more reliable water supply to residents.

According to the state government, the upgraded pumps will significantly improve water distribution, ensuring that more households and businesses benefit from clean and safe water.

The initiative forms part of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s continued investment in water infrastructure to expand access to potable water and improve public service delivery across Lagos State.

Officials noted that the project underscores the government’s commitment to addressing water supply challenges while supporting the growing needs of the state’s rapidly expanding population.
