The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 18 rounds of live ammunition in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Rabiu, was arrested on October 18 during a follow-up operation involving police operatives and local hunters known as Yan Bula.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed the development in a statement, adding that the operation followed the rescue of a kidnap victim, Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu.

According to the statement, the rescued victim identified Rabiu as one of his alleged captors, claiming that the suspect guarded him at night and physically assaulted him while he was being held.

The suspect has been transferred to the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other suspects who fled.
