Julius Agwu opens up on sexual health challenges after brain surgery

Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has opened up about a sexual health challenge he said began after undergoing brain surgery in the United States in 2015.

Agwu underwent the surgery after doctors reportedly discovered three tumours in his brain, with one said to have been about the size of a golf ball.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, the comedian said he experienced a loss of sexual function following the procedure.

Agwu was discussing the impact of his health challenges on his body, career and personal life when the host asked whether the condition or surgery had affected other aspects of his health.

He responded by saying that his sexual function stopped working after the surgery.

Other participants on the programme subsequently discussed the possible involvement of nerves connected to the brain while trying to understand the effect described by the comedian.

Agwu also reflected on his contribution to Nigeria’s comedy industry, particularly his role in popularising the combination of music and comedy.

The conversation later became emotional as the comedian broke down in tears while speaking about his career, relationships and friends he said abandoned him during his difficult period.

Agwu said the experience had been particularly painful, noting that many of his friends stopped communicating with him during his health crisis.
