Joy as Paul Ifeme Celebrates Historic Ordination of Nibo’s First Catholic Priest

It was a day of joy, thanksgiving, and unforgettable celebration for the people of Nibo as the Deputy Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Hon. Paul Ifeme, joined Catholic faithful at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, to witness the priestly ordination of Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Nwegbue, the first Catholic priest to emerge from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Nibo.

Describing the occasion as a defining moment in the spiritual history of the parish, Hon. Ifeme said the ordination marks not only the fulfilment of a divine calling but also the realization of a long cherished dream for the entire Nibo community.

The Deputy Mayor noted that it was a privilege to witness the solemn rite and celebrate the elevation of Rev. Fr. Nwegbue, whom he described as a worthy son of the community whose dedication, humility, and commitment to God have inspired many.

According to Hon. Ifeme, the emergence of Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Nwegbue as the first priest from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Nibo, is a landmark achievement that will inspire young people to embrace faith, service, and selfless leadership. He said the historic milestone has brought immense pride and honour to the parish and the entire community.

Offering prayers for the newly ordained priest, Hon. Ifeme asked God to bless Rev. Fr. Nwegbue with wisdom, strength, good health, and abundant grace as he begins his sacred mission of preaching the Gospel and serving humanity. He expressed confidence that the new priest would remain a shining ambassador of Christ and a source of hope to countless souls.

The colourful ordination ceremony attracted Catholic faithful, family members, friends, traditional leaders, and well wishers from different communities, who gathered in an atmosphere of worship and celebration to witness the joyful occasion and pray for a fruitful, impactful, and fulfilling priestly ministry for Rev. Fr. Johnbosco Nwegbue.
