FCT police rescue 12 year old girl allegedly being raped inside parked car

The FCT Police Command has arrested a man identified as Zazzayanu Halilu for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12 year old girl inside a parked vehicle in Abuja.

The suspect was arrested on October 2 after police operatives on routine patrol around Airport Bridge Taxi Park reportedly noticed a tinted navy blue Volkswagen vehicle parked with its windows wound up.

According to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the officers became suspicious after observing that the vehicle was shaking.

She said the operatives approached the vehicle and opened it, where they allegedly found the suspect sexually assaulting the minor.

The police subsequently arrested the suspect and rescued the girl.

Adeh said preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect had allegedly lured and sexually abused the girl on several occasions inside the same vehicle, while threatening her not to disclose the abuse.

She added that a medical examination revealed that the victim was approximately three months pregnant, allegedly as a result of the abuse.

The victim is currently receiving medical care and undergoing further assessment, while the suspect remains in police custody.

The police said the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
