FCT Police Arrest 10 Suspected Vandals in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested 10 suspected vandals in separate operations across Kubwa, Wuye and the National Mosque area of Abuja.
The arrests were disclosed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who said the operations were aimed at protecting critical public infrastructure across the FCT.
Five suspects were arrested around Bazango, Kubwa, on September 2 after a patrol team allegedly caught them vandalising armoured cables.
The suspects were identified as Goodname Oriarebun, Timothy Donald, Ayo Buli, Emmanuel Elijah and Christian David.
In a separate operation, operatives of Wuye Division arrested Moses Luka while he was allegedly digging out armoured cables along the road between Magic Land and the National Stadium.
Four other suspects were arrested around the National Mosque after a surveillance team allegedly caught them cutting down a solar powered street light and attempting to remove its components.
They were identified as Musa Abdullahi, Suleiman Idris, Aliyu Isa and Muhammed Abdulrahman.
The Police Command said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the suspected vandalism syndicates, including those allegedly involved in receiving stolen public infrastructure.
It added that all 10 suspects remain in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, commended the officers for their vigilance and urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious activities to the Police.
