Despite Soludo’s Support, Anambra Only State Missing As APC Releases National Provisional Campaign Schedule

Anambra State is conspicuously missing from the proposed nationwide campaign rally schedule released by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026–2027 electioneering period, despite Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s support for President Bola Tinubu.

The campaign schedule, which lists rallies across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, outlines planned dates and locations for the party’s nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, neither Awka, the Anambra State capital, nor Onitsha, the state’s commercial hub, appears on the itinerary.

The schedule lists Abakaliki, Ebonyi State for November 9; Enugu, Enugu State, for November 28, 2026; Umuahia, Abia State, for December 5, 2026; and Owerri, Imo State for December 30, 2026 as campaign locations within the South-East geopolitical zone. Both dates fall within a series of rallies planned across the country between October 2026 and January 2027.

The omission of Anambra is notable given the political alignment between Governor Soludo and President Tinubu, particularly following the governor’s expressed support for the President’s re-election bid.

The absence of Anambra from the proposed itinerary could raise questions about the party’s campaign strategy in the South-East and the extent to which the state will feature in its nationwide mobilisation efforts.

Nevertheless, the omission from the published schedule does not necessarily mean the APC will not campaign in Anambra, as additional engagements could be announced or the itinerary revised.

The document identifies rallies marked “President Visibility” as events the President is expected to attend. It also carries a disclaimer stating that the schedule is proposed and subject to official confirmation.

As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, attention may turn to whether the APC will include Anambra in a subsequent revision of its campaign programme.
