Delta Police Rescue 60 Year Old Kidnap Victim, Arrest 10 Suspects

The Delta State Police Command has rescued a 60 year old kidnap victim and arrested 10 suspects in separate operations across Agbor, Abbi and Oghara areas of the state.

The operations, which were carried out with the support of forest guards and local security personnel, also resulted in the recovery of a locally made firearm, a mobile phone and ATM card belonging to the rescued victim, as well as suspected illicit drugs.

The victim was rescued at Alisime Village in Agbor after police operatives engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun battle, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bush.

The police said some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter, while a manhunt has been launched to apprehend them.

In a separate operation in Abbi, operatives of the Command Anti Cult Unit raided a brothel following intelligence on a suspect wanted in connection with an arson case.

Ten persons, comprising seven females and three males, were arrested during the operation, with quantities of Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and suspected Indian hemp recovered.

Another operation in Oghara followed a report of a scuffle involving about eight persons along Ibori Road. The suspects reportedly fled on sighting the police patrol team, with one of them, identified as “Highest”, abandoning a locally made cut to size firearm.

The firearm was recovered as police intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Erale, commended the operatives and other security personnel involved in the operations, directing them to intensify the search for the remaining suspects.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police to support ongoing efforts to strengthen security across the state.
