Anambra State Ministry of Transport Holds Workshop On Use, Maintenance Of Electric Vehicles

A three-day Electric Vehicle (EV) skills acquisition and empowerment workshop has commenced in Awka, Anambra State.
The workshop, a collaboration between the Anambra State Ministry of Transport and EV automobile Limited, is holding at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka.
Speaking during the ceremony which drew over 1000 participants including mechanics, students, Transporters, Road safety personnel, among others.
Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Edward Ibuzo said that the workshop is part of the efforts of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration to make youths employers of labour and called on the participants to put more interest to learn how to drive, maintain and work on electric powered vehicles.
Describing the transport sector as key to the nations economy, Mr Ibuzo maintained that electric-powered vehicles are more cheaper in maintaince that the petrol powered vehicles.
The Managing Director of EV Automobile Limited, Mr Obiora Okafor who dwelt on charging methods of electric-powered vehicles, called on youths to embrace skills acquisition to become better citizens.
According to Mr Okafor, petrol vehicles has almost 2,000 moving parts while electric powered vehicles has about 35 moving parts an indication that petrol vehicles are more expensive to maintain than the electric powered vehicles.
He described Nigeria as a country that is richly blessed with abundant gas deposit, adding that the country needs to adapt to green energy and commended the federal government for decentralizing the power sector.
The event which was also attended by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Esther Onyekesi featured a question and answer.
