Anambra Promotes Hands On Learning Through STEAM FunFest

Anambra State is promoting a practical approach to education as children in Onitsha participated in the STEAM FunFest Anambra 2026, an event designed to encourage learning through creativity, experimentation and innovation.
The family oriented event brought together children and young people who explored science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics through experiments, competitions and hands on activities.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, said the Prof. Chukwuma Soludo led administration was committed to preparing students for a technology driven future.
Ogugua said education must go beyond classroom instruction to develop critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and practical skills.
“We are preparing our children not just for the jobs of today, but for the opportunities of tomorrow,” he said.
The Commissioner commended the organisers for providing children with opportunities to discover their talents and interact with science and technology in practical ways.
He assured that the Ministry of Education would continue to support initiatives that promote creativity, innovation and practical learning in Anambra schools.
The FunFest highlighted the State Government’s growing emphasis on preparing children not only to learn, but to create, innovate and develop solutions to real life challenges.
