The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has called on the Scout Association of Nigeria to partner with the police in strengthening community security, preventing crime and maintaining law and order across the state.

CP Oji Ama made the appeal on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while receiving members of the Anambra State chapter of the association on a courtesy visit to the Police Command Headquarters in Awka.

The police chief stressed that tackling security challenges requires collective responsibility, noting that security agencies cannot work effectively without the cooperation of community groups, youth organisations and other stakeholders.

He urged the Scouts to use their organisational structure, discipline and presence in communities to promote safety awareness, responsible citizenship and peaceful coexistence, particularly among young people.

According to him, organised groups can contribute to crime prevention by identifying security concerns, providing credible information to security agencies and supporting initiatives aimed at protecting lives and property.

CP Oji Ama reaffirmed the command’s commitment to community-based policing through sustained engagement with stakeholders, adding that timely and reliable information from residents remains vital to preventing crime and maintaining public order.

He assured the association of the command’s readiness to sustain mutually beneficial partnerships that would strengthen public trust and cooperation with the police.

The commissioner also urged members of the association to operate within the law and promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate security authorities.

The development highlights the police command’s continued emphasis on community participation as part of efforts to improve security and safeguard residents across Anambra State.
