Anambra Moves to Revive Abandoned 132KV Power Transmission Project

Residents and businesses in parts of Anambra State may soon witness improved electricity supply as the Federal Government moves to revive the abandoned 132KV electricity transmission line project in the state.
The project, which was initiated about 10 years ago but later abandoned, is expected to pass through Nnobi, Awka-Etiti and Nnewi, with the potential to boost electricity supply, support businesses and stimulate economic activities in the affected communities.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, disclosed this while speaking to journalists in his office in Amawbia.
He said the state government was currently developing a framework for the payment of compensation to owners of buildings and lands that may be affected by the acquisition of the right of way for the project.
According to him, the project is being executed by the Federal Government through the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, and the identification and marking of the required right of way have already been completed.
Barrister Ojukwu said affected property owners would soon be invited for documentation and verification of their claims, urging them to cooperate with the government throughout the process.
He assured residents that the Soludo administration would ensure that the compensation process is handled fairly and transparently, as efforts continue to bring the long abandoned power project back to life.
