Anambra Ministry Seeks Public Help to Reunite Rescued Girl With Family

The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has appealed to members of the public to assist in identifying a rescued young girl and reuniting her with her family.

According to the Ministry, the girl was rescued from an uncompleted building near St. Faith’s Anglican Church, UNIZIK Temporary Site, Awka, following a distress report. She was reportedly found in a mentally unstable condition and without shelter.

The Ministry said preliminary findings indicate that the girl had allegedly been subjected to repeated molestation and sexual abuse by unidentified individuals while she remained at the location.

She is currently receiving medical treatment, protection and psychosocial support in the custody of the Ministry.

Officials explained that because of her current mental condition, she has been unable to provide information about her identity, family members or place of origin.

The Ministry is therefore calling on community leaders, residents, religious organisations and members of the public who may recognise the girl or have information that could help identify her family to come forward.
