Anambra Govt Warns Against Unapproved Layouts, Estates, Threatens Demolition

The Anambra State Government has warned members of the public against dealing in a number of unapproved and illegal layouts and estates across the state.

The warning was contained in a public notice issued by the Ministry of Lands on July 24, 2026, signed by the Acting Director of Town Planning, TPL Ifeyinwa M. Onyeji, on behalf of the Commissioner for Lands.

According to the notice, the affected layouts and estates have not been approved by the state government and are therefore considered illegal. The ministry consequently advised members of the public to refrain from any transactions with the owners of the listed developments.

The government urged prospective land buyers and investors to contact the Ministry of Lands for verification and proper guidance before entering into any land transaction in the state.

Owners of the affected unapproved layouts and estates were also advised to commence the necessary registration and approval processes in their own interest.

The Ministry of Lands further warned that, in collaboration with relevant development control agencies, it would commence demolition actions against developments located within the unapproved layouts and estates.

The latest notice is part of the Anambra State Government’s ongoing efforts to regulate physical development, protect members of the public from fraudulent land transactions and ensure orderly urban planning across the state.
