Anambra Education Commissioner Rallies Headteachers to Drive Soludo’s Vision for World Class Education

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, has called on headteachers across the state to play a more active role in transforming basic education and supporting Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s vision of making Anambra a leader in education.
The Commissioner made the call during a familiarisation meeting with headteachers and other key stakeholders in the basic education sector at the headquarters of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) in Awka.
The meeting provided a platform for strategic discussions on improving the quality of teaching, school administration, and learning outcomes in line with the state government’s education reform agenda.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Ogugua described headteachers as the backbone of the basic education system, noting that their leadership and commitment are critical to achieving lasting improvements in public primary schools.
He stated that Governor Soludo’s ambition is to position Anambra’s education sector as the best in Nigeria, one of the finest in Africa, and globally competitive, stressing that the vision can only be realised through the collective dedication of teachers, school administrators, and education stakeholders.
The Commissioner commended the headteachers for their unwavering commitment, saying their efforts have continued to produce students who distinguish themselves in national academic competitions and other educational achievements.
He urged them to remain focused, embrace innovation, and continue implementing policies that will improve teaching standards and learning across the state.
In her remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Education to deliver quality basic education that meets global standards.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Ifeoma Agbaizu, praised the dedication, integrity, and resilience of the headteachers, describing them as indispensable partners in the ongoing transformation of the education sector.
She expressed delight at the impressive attendance and encouraged participants to remain committed to raising educational standards across Anambra.
During the interactive session, several headteachers highlighted the need for increased funding for public and mission schools, improved access to computers, and the provision of internet facilities to support digital learning and prepare pupils for the demands of a technology driven world.
The engagement reinforced the state government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with education stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to build a modern, inclusive, and globally competitive education system.
