Anambra @ 35: Assembly Commends Successive Governments, Ndi Anambra

The Anambra State House of Assembly has congratulated Ndi Anambra on the 35th anniversary of the state, commending successive administrations and residents for their contributions to its growth and development.
The commendation followed a motion sponsored by Hon. Ejike Okechukwu and 28 other lawmakers, recalling that Anambra was created on August 27, 1991, from the old Anambra State to provide an administrative platform for harnessing the industrial, commercial, intellectual and cultural potentials of its people.
The Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, also recognised the contributions of pioneering civil servants, statesmen and Ndi Anambra, while highlighting recent developments under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, including urban infrastructure, civil service digitisation, the Anambra Innovation Tribe and smart city initiatives.
Contributing to the debate, members representing Ihiala One, Nnewi and Onitsha North One, Hon. Jude Ngobili, Hon. Augustine Ike and Hon. Mimi Azikiwe, as well as the Majority Leader, Sir Ikenna Ofodeme, acknowledged the progress recorded in 35 years but identified erosion, security challenges and the need to build a stronger digital economy as areas requiring sustained attention.
The lawmakers expressed confidence that continued collaboration between government and citizens would help address the challenges and strengthen Anambra’s position as a major centre for commerce, manufacturing, education, innovation and sustainable development.
