The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has demolished illegal structures obstructing construction work on Woman Lecturer Road in Okpuno, Awka, as part of efforts to restore the road’s right of way.
The enforcement and demolition exercise was carried out after an inspection reportedly revealed that some individuals had erected structures directly on the road alignment, obstructing the right of way and impeding the ongoing road construction project being executed by the Anambra State Government.

ACTDA said the exercise followed the expiration of notices previously served on the affected property owners.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ACTDA, Dr. Ossy Onuko, led the authority’s enforcement team to remove the encroachments and reclaim the road corridor for its intended purpose.
According to the authority, the exercise was conducted peacefully, paving the way for construction work on Woman Lecturer Road to continue without further obstruction.

ACTDA reiterated its commitment to orderly development within the Awka Capital Territory, warning that unauthorised structures on roads, drainage channels and government acquired lands would not be tolerated.
The authority also urged residents to obtain the necessary building approvals before commencing construction and to respect designated road setbacks to avoid enforcement actions.
ACTDA thanked residents for their cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting infrastructure development and ensuring compliance with planning regulations across the capital territory.
