The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 suspects, comprising 14 Chinese nationals and one Nigerian, during a raid on four alleged illegal lithium processing plants in the Ogere area of Ogun State.
The arrests were made on Friday, October 23, 2026, by operatives of the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 following what the commission described as credible intelligence and surveillance.

Items recovered during the operation included bags of lithium rocks, 18 mobile devices, four laptop computers, two decoders, a television remote control and a trailer truck.
The EFCC said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations had been concluded.

The operation highlights ongoing enforcement efforts against alleged illegal activities in the solid minerals sector. The suspects’ culpability will be determined through the legal process.
