Troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade, working alongside members of the Hybrid Force, have neutralised six suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during an ambush at the Targejeri crossing point in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation was conducted based on intelligence about terrorist movements in the area, according to a statement issued on October 25, 2026, by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer at the Headquarters of Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Maiduguri.
Items recovered from the scene include an AK-47 rifle, three magazines and 169 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Troops also recovered two Android phones, identified as Infinix and Redmi devices, three button phones and some charms.
The military said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-led missions and collaboration between security forces in disrupting insurgent activities and restricting the movement of armed groups across the North-East.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against insurgents and other criminal elements threatening national security. It also warned insurgents, informants, logistics suppliers and other collaborators to abandon their activities or face continued military action.
Members of the public were urged to provide credible and timely information about suspicious movements and activities to the appropriate security authorities.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and supporting efforts to restore peace to communities affected by insurgency.
