Anambra State is preparing to introduce a digital platform that will allow residents to track government infrastructure projects, monitor road conditions and provide feedback on maintenance, in a move aimed at strengthening public accountability.

The platform, known as DocTracker, was developed by the Anambra State ICT Agency and is expected to give residents access to information on public infrastructure from contract award and construction through completion and maintenance.

Beyond tracking project execution, the system is designed to give road users and other residents a channel to report concerns about infrastructure, potentially strengthening public participation in protecting government investments.

The initiative is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, with the government positioning residents as active stakeholders in the preservation of public assets.

During a review of the platform at the ministry’s complex on Monday, Commissioner for Works, Arch. Okey Ezeobi, said infrastructure built with public funds belongs to the people and should be protected collectively.

According to him, roads are constructed to serve residents, making public ownership and participation essential to their long-term sustainability.

The Managing Director of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, said DocTracker combines infrastructure project monitoring with maintenance management, creating a digital platform for accountability and public feedback.

The commissioner and the ICT agency chief disclosed that the platform would be launched in the coming weeks, following the addition of further features intended to improve its performance.

The initiative reflects Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s stated commitment to ensuring that every kobo of public funds works for Ndi Anambra.

However, the platform’s real impact will depend on the accuracy of the information published, how promptly complaints are addressed and whether identified maintenance needs translate into timely action.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has commenced staff training by the ICT Agency to strengthen the technical capacity required to support the initiative.

With DocTracker, Anambra is seeking to move infrastructure monitoring beyond government offices and give residents a more active role in safeguarding public investments. Its effectiveness will ultimately be measured by the transparency it delivers and the improvements residents see on the ground.
