57-Year Old Man Arrested Over Alleged Defilement of 6-Year Old Stepdaughter

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 57 year old man, identified as Kadiri Edenokun, over the alleged defilement of his six year old stepdaughter in Jattu, Auchi.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement issued on September 16, 2026.

According to the statement, the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to committing the offence multiple times.

The six year old girl is currently receiving medical treatment under the care of the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs.

Police said the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Patrick Daaor, warned that the Command would not tolerate sexual violence, particularly offences committed against children.

He urged parents and members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases to the appropriate authorities, stressing that anyone found culpable would face the law.
